Warm greetings from the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA)! The IFAA is delighted that the XXIst IFAA Congress will be held on the Asian continent once again and will be hosted by the Korean Association of Anatomists. Professor Seung-Ho Han will be President of the Congress and Chairman of the Organising Committee, who chosen as its important theme for the Congress, the topic of "iNNO-ANAT" (innovative anatomy). With the rapid advancement of technology that has occurred over the last decade, this topic will surely engender much discussion and debate!
I look forward to meeting and renewing friendships with anatomists from around the globe at the Congress in 2024. It is the wonderful diversity of experience and cultures of our membership that enables wide-ranging debate and vibrant scientific discussion on anatomical research and teaching. I hope particularly, that many emergent anatomists will attend the Congress and participate at every level. I urge our member associations to inform their anatomists-in-training of this event
Besides many exciting symposia on innovative anatomy, the Congress will also host some of our traditional topics such as a workshop for emergent anatomists, discussions on equality and diversity in anatomy, development of curricula in the technological age, ethical issue regarding body donation and use, and many other topics of importance to our discipline. With the exciting scientific programme that has been planned, this is a Congress not to be missed.
The Congress will also host the General Assembly of the IFAA at which representatives from all member Associations will meet to discuss issues and challenges facing the future of our discipline and the policies or developments in the IFAA. In particular, representatives to this General Assembly will elect the new IFAA President and other anatomists to fill important positions on the Executive from 2024.
The Organising Committee under the leadership of Professor Seung-Ho Han, have made huge efforts to ensure that this Congress, set in the beautiful city of Gwangju will exceed our expectations both scientifically and socially. I would like to recognize and thank them for their efforts in advance.
I thus look forward to seeing you all in September 2024 at a stimulating XXIst Congress of the IFAA!
